TLC Expert Dr. Tonia Durden

About the Expert: Dr. Tonia Durden is the Early Childhood Extension Specialist at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Her primary responsibilities include providing expertise and leadership in developing research based early childhood programming and resources that support the holistic development of young children. In addition she coordinates and supports UNL-Extension's statewide efforts in evaluating and strengthening early care professional and family based programs and initiatives. Dr. Durden's area of expertise and scholarly activity focuses on examining how educators and families can support the socio-cultural development and awareness of young children. She is committed to using outreach, scholarship and research to extend the field's current understandings and pedagogies of how to develop and support culturally responsive professionals who strive towards becoming agents of change in their classrooms and communities.
